During this time of rebuild, cultural organizations are in dire need of funding for financial recovery and to restart programming. You are invited to join your local partners for in-person Cultural Futures! Learn about the previous legislative session and all the great opportunities for funding the arts and cultural organizations.

Orcas Youth Chorus
Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm
Grades 6-12. The Music Advocacy Group and Orcas Choral Society are co-sponsoring the Orcas Youth Chorus and Junior Orcas Youth Chorus.  Sign-up here.

Cascade Creek Trail – Easy to Challenging

One of the best paths through the wooded southern section of Moran State Park runs along Cascade Creek, the stream that helps feed Cascade Falls. Traditionally starting at the South Campground of Cascade Lake, the Creek Trail winds through some of the oldest growth on Orcas and brings hikers past many man-made and natural landmarks including the south entrance bridge and the Lower Falls. Hikers can opt to enjoy themselves by the Falls, or continue the trail into the woods and meadows that hem the Creek up to the spillway at Mountain Lake. This trail features some switchbacks, but otherwise is quite easy to handle and a wonderful chance to see undisturbed natural growth and wildlife in the heart of Moran State Park.

A Brief Overview The evening started, as it so often does, with a glass of Prosecco, but it was some time before and only shortly after my dinner companion and I arrived outside the restaurant that we began to catch the enchanting smells wafting from the open kitchen.  These were followed closely by the bright orange glows shining off the polished metal kitchen appliances that were visible to us, glows from whatever freshly flambéed food the Chef had been working on.
